Remember that time when you lost all that weight and were feeling on top of the world? Then the weight loss begun to slow down and before you knew it you came to complete stand still. Fad diets, lifestyle, over indulging - yes they’re all to blame but we help you identify exactly why you’ve stopped losing weight and what you can start doing today to maintain weight loss over a long period of time.

Hitting a weight loss plateau can have you feeling down and struggling to remember why you started to begin with. What we know is that when your body continually loses weight your metabolism can begin to slow down, however there are ways to overcome this and continue to gradually lose weight over time.

  1. Exercise consistently - It might sound cliche, but for fat loss to stick, consistency is key. There is no point pushing yourself to your absolute limit in that Body Pump class and ending up so sore that you can’t sit down properly for the rest of the week. The key here is finding something you enjoy doing and sticking to it. Infact we suggest 10 minutes a day of exercise is all you need to get that fat off and keep it off.
  2. What is on your plate - You’ve heard it before, but it’s true. Fat loss is 80% nutrition so it is important to remember that if you want to continue burning fat you need to be fuelling your body with the right foods. Having a high protein breakfast is the best place to start and puts your body in a fat burning state to start the day. The Lady Shake is the perfect breakfast on the go and one bag has the equivalent protein of 70 eggs.
  3. Treating yourself too frequently - It is common for people to see weight loss results and immediately start treating themselves with fast food, snacks and sweets. Although we believe it is important to treat yourself as treat meals keep your metabolism ticking. It is important to know when to stop and how to control your treats. We emphasise the importance of one treat meal a week, usually on a Friday or Saturday night to help you both physiologically and psychologically.

FACT: It takes the length of TWO football fields to run off TWO peanut butter M&Ms!

  4. You’ve stopped drinking enough water - Some suggest that shifting those last few kilos can be as easy as drinking more water! For most of us it easy to forget to drink enough water and only resort to drinking water when thirsty. We suggest drinking around 3 litres of water per day. What is more important is that a recent study published in the journal of Obesity shows, that drinking two cups of water before a main meal helped a group of obese people shift 1.3kg more than a control group who didn’t drink water before eating!

Keep up the good work and push through those weight loss plateau's.
